The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) commemorated its 60th anniversary with a vibrant celebration attended by party members, political allies, and supporters from across the country. The event, held in Colombo, highlighted the party's six-decade journey of political activism, social advocacy, and its role in shaping Sri Lanka’s leftist movement.
Senior leaders delivered powerful speeches recounting the JVP’s historical struggles, ideological evolution, and its vision for a just and equitable Sri Lanka. The celebration included cultural performances, tributes to past leaders, and renewed pledges to fight for the rights of workers, youth, and marginalized communities.

This is not just a celebration of our past, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to the people of this nation,” a spokesperson said during the event.

The 60th anniversary marks a significant milestone for the JVP, which has transformed from a revolutionary movement into a prominent political force advocating democratic socialism and systemic reform.
