The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) commemorates its 60th anniversary today with a grand celebration and cultural concert under the theme "A World-Winning Energy, an Invincible Journey." The event is scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre in Colombo.

Leaders of the JVP, along with party elders and members from across the country, are expected to attend the celebration, which aims to reflect on the party's political journey, historical milestones, and its vision for the future.

The cultural concert will showcase artistic performances highlighting the struggles and aspirations of the party and the broader working-class movement in Sri Lanka. The event also serves as a platform to reaffirm the JVP's commitment to social justice, democracy, and national progress.

Founded in 1965, the JVP has played a significant role in shaping Sri Lanka’s political landscape over the past six decades. Today's celebration stands as a tribute to the party's legacy and its ongoing efforts to build what it describes as a more equitable and empowered society.
