The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather forecast indicating that several parts of the country will experience showers or thundershowers today, particularly during the afternoon hours.
Light showers may also occur during the morning hours in the Western Province, including Puttalam, Galle, Matara, and Ratnapura districts.
Residents are advised to take precautions against potential hazards caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Additionally, misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Central and Uva provinces in the morning.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS
Condition of Rain:
Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
Winds:
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (50-55) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
State of Sea:
The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
