Showers or thundershowers will occur at several districts

Showers may occur in Western province and in Puttalam, Galle, Matara and Rathnapura districts in the morning too. 

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS

Condition of Rain:

Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. 

Winds:

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph.  Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be moderate to fairly rough at times. 

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
