Update : Helicopter crash at Maduru Oya: Five confirmed dead

A Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Bell 212 helicopter crashed into the Maduru Oya reservoir this morning during a demonstration at a passing-out ceremony, resulting in the deaths of five military personnel.
According to SLAF spokespersons, the incident occurred during a routine aerial display. The helicopter was carrying 12 individuals, including two pilots, at the time of the crash. Both pilots reportedly managed to eject safely and have since been rescued.
Tragically, two SLAF helicopter gunners and three Special Forces (SF) personnel were confirmed dead following the crash. Rescue operations were swiftly carried out, and investigations into the cause of the crash are currently underway.
The SLAF expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and stated that a full inquiry has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic accident. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses
