Protest Erupts Outside Colombo School Over Student’s Suicide

A protest was held outside a prominent girls school in Bambalapitiya today, demanding justice for a 16-year-old former student who recently died by suicide in Kotahena. Demonstrators called for the immediate suspension and arrest of a male teacher accused of sexually abusing the girl, claiming the abuse contributed to her tragic death.
Protesters also accused the school principal of shielding the alleged perpetrator and failing to act on the allegations. The demonstration, which blocked Duplication Road near the school, prompted the deployment of riot police to maintain order.
