12 Injured in accident near Palatuwa exit of southern expressway

Twelve individuals sustained injuries this morning when a van collided with a container truck parked along the Matara–Akuressa main road, near the Palatuwa exit of the Southern Expressway.

According to police reports, the van was traveling toward Matara when it crashed into the stationary truck. The injured passengers, all residents of Mulatiyana in Matara, had been returning home after a trip to the Katunayake Airport.

Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, and the injured were admitted to the Matara District General Hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured is currently being assessed, though no fatalities have been reported.
