
15 Sri Lankans rescued from Myanmar cybercrime camps to return home today

Their release follows a sustained diplomatic effort by Sri Lankan authorities, in close collaboration with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand. The Ministry expressed deep gratitude to all local and international parties who contributed to the successful rescue operation.
These individuals had reportedly fallen victim to human trafficking under the guise of foreign employment opportunities. The Ministry has once again urged the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes and to follow government-approved procedures when seeking employment abroad.i Lankans are also strongly advised to coordinate with the Foreign Employment Bureau to ensure the legitimacy and safety of overseas job offers. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and preventing future cases of trafficking and exploitation.
