Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few districts

Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Central, Uva, North-central and Eastern provinces and in Hambanthota districts after 1.00 p.m. 

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere of the island during the afternoon or night. 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central and Uva provinces and in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts during the morning.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places over the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.

Winds:

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph.  Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate.   

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
