
5th Iteration of SL-Pakistan Defence Dialogue Concludes

The high-level discussions, which commenced on April 28, brought together senior defence officials from both countries to review existing partnerships and explore new avenues for Defence relations and cooperation.

As part of the official programme of three-day dialogue, the Sri Lankan delegation led by Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), undertook visits to key defence and industrial establishments in Pakistan. On April 29, the delegation toured Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) in Punjab and the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, two of Pakistan’s premier state-owned defence enterprises.
Sri Lanka NavyAir Vice Marshal Thuyacontha (Retd) was accompanied by several senior Sri Lankan military officials, including Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Additional Secretary (Defence) of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Jayantha Edirisinghe, Army Chief of Staff Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe and Air Force Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera.
Sri Lanka NavyThe delegation engaged in comprehensive briefings and facility tours, gaining insights into Pakistan’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and exploring opportunities for enhanced technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
