Six J'pura University Students Suspended Over Alleged Assault

According to Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Padmalal M. Manange, the incident appears to be an act of retaliation against the victim’s stance against ragging, a practice that has long drawn criticism across Sri Lankan universities.
The injured student is currently receiving treatment at Weligama Hospital. His condition has not been disclosed, but hospital sources indicate he is under close observation.
A complaint has been filed with the Homagama Police, who have launched an investigation into the incident. Law enforcement authorities are continuing their efforts to locate and apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.
The university administration has condemned the incident and assured the public of its commitment to eradicating ragging from its campuses. “We will take all necessary disciplinary and legal actions to ensure student safety,” Prof. Manange stated.
