A SriLankan Airlines flight arriving from Chennai was subjected to a high-level security operation at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today, following an alert from Indian authorities linking potential suspects to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

Flight UL 122, operated by aircraft registered as 4R-ALS, landed in Colombo at 11:59 a.m. and was immediately met by Sri Lanka’s security forces. According to the Police Media Spokesperson, the operation was initiated after receiving a tip-off from the Chennai Area Control Centre regarding a suspect possibly onboard the flight.

SriLankan Airlines confirmed in a statement that the aircraft underwent a “comprehensive inspection” in coordination with national security agencies. All passengers were subjected to identity checks and additional screening measures, although no official confirmation has been made regarding any arrests or detentions.

The special operation follows heightened regional vigilance in the aftermath of the terror incident in Pahalgam, India, earlier this week. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the suspect or the nature of their alleged involvement.

Security at BIA has been intensified, with increased monitoring of inbound international flights. Officials assured that all necessary steps were taken to ensure the safety of passengers and the public.
