The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has issued an official clarification dispelling widespread misinformation regarding the deadline for submitting self-declarations to banks and financial institutions for exemptions from Withholding Tax (WHT) on interest income.

Contrary to false claims that April 30, 2025, marked the final date for submission, the IRD confirmed that no specific deadline has been set. Taxpayers are only required to submit their declarations prior to receiving interest payments on the relevant deposits.

The statement, released by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, emphasized that the declaration process does not require a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), though some personal or account details may be requested for verification purposes.

The IRD urges all taxpayers to rely on official channels for accurate information and to disregard unofficial or misleading reports
