Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely in certain areas

Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country during the afternoon or night. Morning showers are also likely in the Southern and Western provinces and in the Puttalam district.

Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely in certain areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern, and North-Central provinces.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. Additionally, misty conditions are expected in parts of the Central and Uva provinces during the morning hours

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (where winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere converge) affects the island’s weather. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the island during the afternoon or night.

Showers may occur in Southern and Western provinces and Puttalam district in the morning too. 

Heavy falls about 100 mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North-central provinces.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central and Uva provinces during the morning.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.

Winds:

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (20-35) kmph.  

State of Sea:

The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate.  

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
