Case against Mahindananda to be called on October 29

The Fort Magistrate's Court has ordered two high-profile cases to be called on October 29th for the Attorney General’s advice.

One case involves former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and several others, including former Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando. The group faces allegations of misusing over Rs. 39 million during the 2015 Presidential Election by purchasing carrom and Dham boards, which were allegedly distributed to Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) branch offices.

The second case concerns financial misconduct allegations against several former directors of ETI and Swarnamahal. The accused Nalaka Edirisinghe, Jeewaka Edirisinghe, Anjali Edirisinghe, and Asanka Edirisinghe are being investigated for their roles in the controversial financial dealings linked to the companies.

Both matters will be taken up again on October 29th pending further instructions from the Attorney General’s Department.
