Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa firmly dismissed circulating rumors of VIP queues during the recent Sri Dalada Maligawa pilgrimage, stating that only standard public queues were implemented throughout the event.
Addressing concerns raised on social media, Dr. Jayatissa emphasized that the government ensured an equal and respectful experience for all pilgrims. “There were no special arrangements made for VIPs. Everyone followed the same process,” he confirmed.
The Minister further added that this approach was part of the government’s commitment to equality and efficient public service. “This is a clear demonstration that the claims made by some critics that the government is incapable of delivering are baseless. We have proven otherwise through our actions,” he said.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, continues to attract thousands of devotees and tourists, making crowd management a critical task during peak pilgrimage periods.
