Train services were severely disrupted following a derailment near the Kalutara South Railway Station. The incident occurred last night (January 5), when a train traveling towards the railway yard, after arriving from Maradana to South Kalutara, derailed.

As a result, one of the main train lines was completely blocked, causing significant delays. Although the derailed section of the train has been removed from the tracks, train traffic continues to face disruptions.

Currently, all trains operating from the Kalutara South Railway Station have been restricted to a single route, further impacting the flow of services. Railway authorities are working to restore full operations, and passengers are advised to check for updates on any possible delays.

Authorities are also investigating the cause of the derailment and are taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
