In a major crackdown on traffic violations, Sri Lanka Police have announced that legal action was taken against 7,676 individuals for various traffic offenses in a 24-hour period, which ended at 6 a.m. today. Among those arrested, 413 were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, while 49 others were apprehended for reckless and dangerous driving.
The police statement emphasized their commitment to ensuring road safety and deterring traffic violations, particularly during the holiday season, when the risk of accidents increases. The authorities have called for continued vigilance and adherence to traffic laws to protect public safety.
