Major General Lasantha Rodrigo is set to assume the position of the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, succeeding Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, who is retiring.
The official announcement regarding Major General Rodrigo’s appointment is expected later today (December 30).
A veteran officer with a distinguished military career, Major General Rodrigo has previously held key roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, currently serving his second service extension, will step down to facilitate this leadership transition.
