The Sri Sumanaramaya Temple in Kanampella will be hosting the Gangarohana Maha Perahera procession tonight (29th December), which will result in temporary traffic restrictions in the area. The procession is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. and continue until 1:00 a.m. tomorrow (30th December).

The procession will start from the Kosgama Kanampella Sri Sumanaramaya Temple and proceed to the Kanampella Junction on the Kosgama Pugoda Road. It will then turn south at the junction and move about 800 meters along the Colombo - Avissawella main road, reaching Kadugoda Junction, before returning to the temple along the same route.

In light of these developments, the police have advised the public and drivers to avoid the affected roads and use alternative routes during the procession.

Alternative Routes:

Vehicles traveling from Colombo towards Avissawella, Ratnapura, and Hatton are advised to take the Labugama Road for 12 kilometers south from the Kaluaggala Junction, near the clock tower in Kosgama. From there, turn right at the Puwakpitiya Junction and then take the left turn onto the Thungmodara-Avissawella road, continuing for 8 kilometers.

Vehicles traveling from Avissawella towards Colombo should divert onto the Kirindiwela-Colombo road after traveling 8 kilometers south on the Aswattha-Kirindiwela road, near the Ranwala Pahana.

The police have urged everyone to comply with the traffic guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and minimize any disruptions.
