Police arrested a 53-year-old man near the Punewa Junction last night (December 13) for possessing commercial explosives.
The suspect, a resident of Matugama, was found carrying a detonation cord, 150 grams of ammonium, and a gelignite stick during a search conducted by officers in the Punewa Police Division.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to uncover further details. The suspect remains in police custody as inquiries progress.
