Ambassador Miyon Lee of the Republic of Korea met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (9th October) at the Presidential Secretariat, highlighting a significant step in strengthening the relationship between Sri Lanka and Korea.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lee congratulated President Dissanayake on his inauguration and conveyed greetings from Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. She reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka through collaboration in education, health, digitalization, climate change, and renewable energy.
The Ambassador highlighted the work of Korean agencies such as KOICA, KOFIH, and the Saemaul Foundation in Sri Lanka and called for continued cooperation. She also expressed optimism about Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring efforts and Korea Exim Bank’s renewed framework for loan projects, while encouraging further Korean investments in the country, emphasizing the need for transparency and streamlined policies to attract foreign direct investment.
