The accepting of nominations for Sri Lanka's 2024 General Election commenced this morning (4th October) at district secretaries in 22 electoral districts.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had earlier issued an Extraordinary Gazette on 24th September, fixing 24th November 2024, as the date for the Parliamentary Election. The nomination period will run from today until noon on October 11, 2024.

Sri Lanka’s Parliament consists of 225 members, with 196 elected from electoral districts and 29 appointed via the national list based on party vote proportions.
