Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa has accused President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his associates of attempting to violate the constitution by trying to postpone the Presidential Election.
In a recent statement, MP Premadasa claimed that the President, along with his supporters and the government, has expressed the view that holding a Presidential Election this year is inappropriate. He noted that on several occasions, the President and his group have tried to push a political agenda to convince the public that this is not the right time for an election.
MP Premadasa emphasized that under these circumstances, further attempts will likely be made to delay the Presidential Election, which, according to him, should be held soon in accordance with legal and constitutional requirements.
