President Ranil Wickremesinghe has ceremonially handed out freehold deeds to 192 individuals from 13 divisional secretariat divisions in the Batticaloa District as part of the ‘Urumaya’ freehold deeds program.
The ‘Urumaya’ national program aims to distribute 2 million freehold land deeds nationwide, empowering citizens with secure property rights. In Batticaloa alone, 27,595 families are eligible to benefit from this program, highlighting its significance in promoting land ownership and socio-economic stability.
