Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry, announced today that a high-level delegation is set to embark on a mission to Russia to facilitate the repatriation of Sri Lankan ex-military personnel who were deployed in Russia for military purposes.
Heading the delegation is State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tharaka Balasuriya, with discussions scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27. This diplomatic endeavor aims to address the arrangements for the safe return of Sri Lankan individuals who served in military capacities in Russia.
Minister Sabry also disclosed that a specialized team of officials has been assigned the task of evaluating a Cabinet paper concerning Sri Lanka's potential membership in the BRICS organization, with their findings expected later this month.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Presidential Media Centre under the theme 'Collective Path to a Stable Country', Minister Ali Sabry emphasized the government's commitment to navigating diplomatic channels to ensure the welfare and interests of Sri Lankan citizens abroad.
