The final rites of veteran Sri Lankan musician and singer, Dr. Nanda Malini, are scheduled to take place at the Borella General Cemetery today (22).

Her remains are currently lying at the Nanda Malini Music Academy on Wijayabahu Mawatha in Nawala, where members of the public have been given an opportunity to pay their last respects.

Professor Sunil Ariyaratne said the religious rites will commence at 10.00 a.m. and will last approximately one hour, during which public access to pay respects will be temporarily suspended.

The public will again be permitted to pay their respects until 3.30 p.m.

At 3.30 p.m., a funeral procession carrying the remains will leave the music academy and proceed towards the Borella General Cemetery via Parliament Road in Rajagiriya.

The cremation is scheduled to take place at 5.00 p.m.

Professor Ariyaratne further stated that no formal ceremony or public gathering will be held at the cemetery during the final rites.
