In the wake of severe weather conditions, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reported an alarming surge of over 36,900 breakdowns, leading to power interruptions affecting more than 300,000 consumers within the past three days.

Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara, has announced the deployment of additional service staff to promptly address the breakdowns and restore power to affected consumers.

Taking to 'X' (formerly Twitter), the Minister reassured the public that both CEB management and service personnel are operating around the clock to resolve the disruptions.

Furthermore, Minister Wijesekara has provided alternative avenues for consumers to report power interruptions, advising them to utilize the CEB hotline 1987, the SMS option by texting 1987 with details of the breakdown and their electricity consumer number, or through the CEB Care app and website at http://cebcare.ceb.lk.
