Police Sergeant who was arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) on charges of aiding and abetting the failed escape of organized criminal and drug trafficker ‘Harak Kata’, detained by the CID, has been suspended from duty.
Police Sergeant J. V. J. S. Nihal, who was attached to Matara Criminal Investigation Division, has been suspended, thus.
The TID, based on the orders and instructions of the Inspector General of Police, is conducting an investigation regarding the planning of Harak Kata’s escape with the help of a constable.
The motorcycle and helmet to be used in the escape were found at the premises of the CID.
During the lengthy investigation conducted in this regard, information had been revealed regarding a person named ‘Suddha’ who had brought the helmet and the motorcycle.
