Three young men lost their lives and two women were injured in a tragic hit-and-run incident in Rambewa, Anuradhapura, early this morning, according to police.
The victims, who were returning home from a musical show, were struck by a speeding cab traveling from Rambewa to Anuradhapura.
The driver of the cab fled the scene after the accident, leaving the injured victims to be rushed to Rambewa and Anuradhapura hospitals.
Sadly, three young men aged 16 and 21 succumbed to their injuries, while the two injured women are currently receiving medical treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
The Mihintale Police are investigating the incident to apprehend the hit-and-run driver.
