The Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Peter Breuer, has expressed optimism about the country's economic program, highlighting its tangible impact.
Breuer commended the commitment and implementation efforts of Sri Lankan authorities during a meeting held today (07) between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the visiting IMF team at the Finance Ministry, as reported by the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Breuer emphasized that Sri Lanka's dedication to the IMF program is yielding concrete results, marking a pivotal turn for the country's economy amidst recent economic challenges. He noted that the economy is exhibiting signs of recovery, reflecting the efficacy of the IMF-supported initiatives.
Commencing today (March 07), the IMF will initiate the second review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for Sri Lanka, starting with an opening meeting with President Wickremesinghe.
Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe highlighted the significance of this milestone, affirming the government's commitment to fostering stability and economic growth.
