Dr. Saman Ratnayake, Additional Secretary of Health, who was arrested in connection with the alleged importation of substandard Immunoglobulin injections, gave a confidential statement before Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrema today.
The suspect was brought before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court early this morning by prison officials. During a four-hour period in chambers, he provided his statement before being returned to Mahara Prison.
Ratnayake is the tenth suspect named in this case, which involves ten individuals, including former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. All suspects have been remanded until March 14 by the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court on charges under the Public Property Act.
