A 13-year-old student from Meepagama School in Kalawana died after collapsing during the school's morning assembly today.
The girl, who was in the 8th grade and a resident of Kukulegama in Kalawana, collapsed during the assembly and was rushed to Kalawana Basic Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson said that she was pronounced dead upon admission to the hospital.
The postmortem examination to determine the cause of her death was scheduled to take place at Kalawana Hospital.
It was reported that the girl's elder brother also succumbed to epilepsy a few months ago.
