Two suspects, both females, from the Rathgama area had been arrested on charges of aiding and abetting those involved in the recent tragic killings of five individuals in Beliatta.
The arrest of these two women followed an operation conducted by officers from the Hakmana Police Station in Rathgama.
Police said the detained individuals, aged 23 and 33 respectively, are identified as residents of Boossa.
Investigators have revealed that the firearms used in the fatal shooting were transported from Karapitiya to Boossa via a motorcycle belonging to one of the suspects.
On Jan.23, a group of persons who had arrived in a jeep had opened fire at a white Defender near the Beliatta Interchange of the Southern Expressway.
Four persons were killed at the scene while the other person who was inside the Defender was rushed to the Tangalle Hospital with critical gunshot wounds, however, he succumbed to injuries shortly after.
Previously, four suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
