The Department of Meteorology has announced that the Sun will appear to move southward and will be directly overhead at latitudes close to Sri Lanka from tomorrow (August 28) until September 7.

Accordingly, the Sun is expected to be directly overhead at 12:11 p.m. tomorrow in the areas of Kokkuvil, Nallur, Kodikamam and Nagar Kovil, the department said.

The phenomenon occurs as the Sun’s apparent north-south movement brings it directly over different parts of Sri Lanka during this period.
