The Cabinet has approved a compensation package for prison officers who were killed or injured during the clash at Negombo Prison.
Under the approved scheme, the families of prison officers who lost their lives in the incident will receive compensation of Rs. 5 million per officer.
Officers who suffered permanent total disabilities as a result of the incident will also be entitled to compensation of Rs. 5 million each.
Meanwhile, officers classified as partially disabled with a 100% loss of earning capacity will receive Rs. 4 million in compensation.
Officers who sustained temporary partial disabilities will be entitled to compensation of Rs. 3 million under the approved relief package.
