A 54-year-old Chinese tourist, Shang Xiaolong, has been reported missing and presumed drowned after being caught in a tidal wave while surfing at Payagala Beach.
The incident unfolded in the Payagala (North) area, where Mr. Shang was staying at a local hotel.
Local authorities and residents have launched extensive search efforts to locate the missing tourist. Despite their dedicated attempts, Shang Xiaolong remains unaccounted for at this time.
