India's newly appointed High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, presented his credentials to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Before taking on his role as High Commissioner, Jha, a seasoned Indian diplomat, held the position of Indian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union. Prior to that, he served as the Ambassador of India in Uzbekistan from July 2019 to July 2020. Jha brings a wealth of experience, having also served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC from July 2017 to June 2019.
His diplomatic career spans various strategic assignments, including his role as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Brussels from 2010 to 2013, where he also served as Charge d’ Affaires from January to September 2012. Between 2013 and 2017, Jha played a pivotal role in different divisions within the Ministry of External Affairs, handling Human Resources and Management Affairs, Relations with Western Europe and the European Union, and Policy Planning.
Over the years, Jha has demonstrated his diplomatic prowess in diverse global locations, including Delhi (2004-2007), Moscow (1995-1998), Vladivostok (1998-2000), New York (2000-2004), and Colombo (2007-2010). His extensive background positions him as a key figure in fostering India-Sri Lanka relations during his tenure as High Commissioner.
