A charter flight transporting tourists from Estonia is scheduled to touch down on December 20, according to Priyantha Fernando, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
The charter flight, operated by SkyUp Airlines, boasts a capacity to accommodate up to 161 passengers, enhancing the nation's connectivity with the international tourism market.
Fernando expressed optimism about the continuous influx of tourists, revealing that from December 1 to 17, Sri Lanka had already welcomed an impressive 100,750 visitors. Notably, around 6,500 tourists arrived daily during the past week, underscoring the country's appeal as a sought-after travel destination.
Amidst these developments, Sri Lanka has set ambitious targets for its tourism sector. The nation aims to welcome 1.5 million tourists in 2023 and projects an even more substantial influx of 2.3 million visitors in 2024. These goals signal a positive outlook for the country's tourism industry, highlighting its resilience and attractiveness on the global stage.
