The 24th annual Journalism Awards for Excellence will be held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel on 12th Dec.2023
The Event is organized by the Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka in partnership with the Sri Lanka Press Institute, the Newspaper Society of Sri Lanka, Free Media Movement and the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association.
It is held to recognize professional excellence in journalism and award those who excel in it. 36 journalists will receive the ‘Pen Trophy’ Award and 16 others will receive Certificates of Merit, along with five Lifetime Achievement Awardees: H. L. D. Mahindapala, Stanley Samarasinghe, Seetha Ranjanee, S. Thillainathan and A. L. M. Nilam.
The Young Journalist of the Year Award will receive the Lakshman Kadirgamar Memorial Scholarship presented by the Lakshman Kadirgamar Foundation for a course in advanced training at MASCOM, a journalism institute run by the Manorama Group in Kerala, India.
The event is sponsored by John Keells Holdings, Aitken Spence, Dialog Axiata Plc, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank and Olu Water.
