In the wake of an islandwide power outage, several areas are experiencing disruptions in their water supply or receiving water at low pressure.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has confirmed that essential services are still receiving water through bowsers. Fortunately, areas with generators for water supply remain unaffected.

However, the NWSDB acknowledges the challenges faced by localities without water supply generators. They are currently working diligently to restore water supply in these areas.

The power outage, which occurred earlier this evening (09 Dec.), is a result of a breakdown in the transmission line from Kotmale to Biyagama.

This has led to major power outages throughout the country. Efforts are underway to rectify the issue and restore power as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, the NWSDB is actively addressing the water supply concerns caused by the power outage
