Colombo (ZiraDaily)- The Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation (SLTF) is set to host an International Taekwondo Championship today (06) at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

With the opening ceremony scheduled for 4.00 p.m., the championship is expected to draw participants from eight South Asian countries and several Asian countries, totaling nearly 100 officials and competitors.

This will be the first time that an international taekwondo tournament and an international conference will be held in Sri Lanka, showcasing the growth and development of the sport in the country.

In addition to the main championship event, the SLTF has organized three other noteworthy events to take place during the tournament.

The GCS International Open Championship and the Asian International Open Championship will be held on December 7-8, followed by the first South Asian Open Taekwondo Championship on December 11-12.

These events will offer an opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and compete against top athletes from various regions. Moreover, the GCS International Conference is scheduled to take place on December 8 at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo.

This conference will provide a platform for taekwondo experts and enthusiasts to exchange knowledge, discuss the sport's future, and explore avenues for further collaboration.

The SLTF's initiative to host this international taekwondo championship and conference highlights Sri Lanka's commitment to fostering the growth of the sport and promoting international cooperation within the taekwondo community
