Hence, the impact of severe cyclonic storm “MIGJAUM” on the weather in the sea areas around the island is further reduced.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Mannar, Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island particularly during the evening or night.

Winds:

Winds will be South-westerly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph in the sea areas around the island. Wind speed may increase up to (40-45) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambanthota to Pottuvil.

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambanthota to Pottuvil may be fairly rough at times.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

The system moves nearly northward away from Sri Lanka towards Andra Pradesh coast of India. It would cross South Andhra Pradesh coasts during next hour.
