Saudi Arabian Airlines, known as Saudia, is set to resume its flights to Sri Lanka, as announced by Faisal bin Alibrahim, the Minister of Economy and Planning for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This decision, disclosed during an official visit to Sri Lanka on November 26-27, 2023, is expected to tap into a significant market of affluent Saudi travelers heading to Sri Lanka, according to a statement from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, Minister Faisal bin Alibrahim held discussions with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, focusing on the establishment of an Economic Roadmap between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. The roadmap aims to foster cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, power and energy, tourism, cultural exchange, digital transformation, and employment opportunities, particularly within the construction sector.
The meeting, attended by Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, showcased the commitment of both nations to strengthen bilateral ties. This visit is part of a series of recent ministerial engagements between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, highlighting their ongoing efforts to enhance economic cooperation.
