The Meteorology Department has predicted an increase in showery weather conditions over most areas of the island for the next few days, starting from today.
According to the department, showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at times in the Eastern, Northern, and North-central provinces.
Besides, other provinces of the island may experience showers or thundershowers in several places after 02.00 p.m.
It is important for the public to note that fairly heavy showers, measuring about 75mm, are likely to occur in Eastern, Uva, Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
Given these weather conditions, the general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize any damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
