Several districts in Sri Lanka are experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures reaching the "Caution" level.

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department has issued a heat index, stating that the North-Central and Eastern Provinces, as well as Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Moneragala districts, will be affected.

The advisory cautions that people may suffer from heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heatstroke if they continue to engage in activities under the hot sun.

The department advises individuals to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in shaded areas, and regularly check on the elderly and sick individuals who are indoors. Furthermore, it is recommended to not leave children unattended.
