Parliament is scheduled to debate the Supplementary Estimate No. 8 of 2026 today (November 5), seeking approval to allocate Rs. 4.261 billion to the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The decision to take up the supplementary estimate for debate was made at the Committee on Parliamentary Business meeting held yesterday (November 4), chaired by Speaker Dr Jagath Wickramaratne.

The supplementary estimate proposes obtaining Rs. 4,261,000,000 from the Consolidated Fund or any other fund or money belonging to the Government to be paid to the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The funds are intended to establish an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system for the Air Force, taking into consideration the changing operational environment and emerging threats arising from adverse weather conditions in the Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas, which are vulnerable to disasters.

Meanwhile, as previously decided, the debate on the Ports and Airports (Amendment) Bill (Second Reading) will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. today.
