Sri Lanka has been removed as the host of the 2027 ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, following the International Cricket Council’s decision not to recognize the country’s current Cricket Transformation Committee.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, is now expected to be relocated to another country. A new host is likely to be announced by the ICC at a later stage.
The hosting rights for the 2027 tournament had previously been secured by the former Sri Lankan cricket administration headed by then-Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva.
The latest development comes amid continued uncertainty surrounding the administration of cricket in Sri Lanka and the recognition of the current Cricket Transformation Committee by the ICC.
