A team of officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) visited the residence of MP Ravi Karunanayake on Parliament Road on Saturday morning.

The visit came after Karunanayake failed to appear before the commission in connection with an ongoing investigation, despite being requested to do so.

However, Karunanayake’s media team said the MP had not deliberately avoided appearing before CIABOC. They said he had been informed to appear before the commission but was unable to attend on the scheduled date.

His lawyers had subsequently requested another date for him to appear before the commission, and have confirmed that Karunanayake will appear on a future date.

CIABOC officials left the residence after finding that Karunanayake was not in Colombo.
