Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesha Tharanga has returned to the top of the world rankings after briefly slipping to second place, according to the latest rankings.
Tharanga has accumulated 1,363 ranking points, placing him 21 points ahead of Germany’s Julian Weber, who has 1,342 points and is ranked second.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters occupies third place in the rankings.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, who mounted a strong challenge to Tharanga at the recently concluded Diamond League competition, is ranked sixth with 1,301 points.
Tharanga’s return to the top highlights his continued strong performance on the international javelin circuit.
